I haven’t done a workout post in forever, and my workouts have changed since we last spoke about ’em….
So I’m sure if you’re on the Paleo On A Budget Facebook page…You’ve heard about my new love….
My kettlebell! I named him brutal brutus… So I could yell at him when you know…the workout got tough and stuff… It worked totally. So name your equipment people! {yes he’s even yellow}
I started doing the kettle worx workouts… did the full 6 weeks… loved every minute {6 weeks just finished last week}. But I grew out of the 10lb by week four… So I’m in the market for a 20lb Kettlebell.. I’m taking suggestions for names!
But here’s the thing, they tell you 3x a week… that wasn’t enough… So I threw in my elliptical … Turns out my legs are a little too short for the stride… and my knees started hurting pretty badly..
So when the heat waves up… I’m going to do the running thing… It’s the only way to get the cardio I want I’m thinking.
But back to my story {wow do I go on tangents}. I’ve decided the most effective workout to date for me is three days on one day off…. same as in crossfit. It’s going to be 2 days Kettle Bells one day running/cardio-ish stuff. Then on said day off I might throw in some yoga, I do still love my yoga and try to do some at the end of my workouts.
I’ve also started doing pushups and situps in the morning. Now that I’ve given up coffee, those plus my tea are the best way to wake up. Give it a try!
So Results so far… Since I started working out faithfully.. I’ve seen a huge improvement in my arms and legs… my arms have always been a sore spot and I’m starting to see them firm up and gain muscle {It’s tiny tiny muscle but it’s there!}. My legs are seriously toning up…. Even my thighs which is crazy.. because they’ve never been tone.. EVER. It’s all the squats and kettle bell workouts.
The nice part about all of this…. It was the price of a kettlebell.. There are plenty of Kettlebell tutorials on youtube { take it slow when you start and really really work on your form.. if you can workout in front of a mirror that’d be awesome… } And just know you might grow out of them fast, so really think about what size you want to buy, if you think a 5 is going to be to light in a few weeks you might think about a 10 lb instead.
