They’ve kidnapped me.. I swear they have! In case you’ve been wondering where I’ve been… I’ve been wrapping a mountain of presents which is probably bigger than my shortness.
Now we all know a budget isn’t just money, you can also have a “time budget”. I’m a pre-madona about wrapping presents… I’ve been wrapping Mr. Not So Paleo’s gifts since we got together because he wasn’t doing it perfectly.. Yes I have a problem I know! But anyhoo, this year I finally broke down and purchased my two new best friends:
Aren’t they pretty? They’re the scotch brand
Pop-Up Tape Handband Dispenser
{with pre-cut strips of tape} and the Gift Wrap Cutter.
Yes these were a splurge { a little under $3 for each at Walmart }, but my wrapping time was cut in half.. it only took me a little over an hour to wrap all the gifts and a few aren’t shown in the picture! That would normally have taken me double the time… So sometimes you’ve got to spend a little if you can to save yourself some time in the long run.
• The tape dispenser was comfy with a stretchy hand band and saved me from doing the “tape dance” { you know, when you’ve got the paper just where you want it but the tape has grown legs and moved.. so now you’re holding the gift with one hand and rummaging on the table with the other to find it, then try to use both hands to tear yourself a piece only to have it get stuck on itself, so you’ve got a ball of tape stuck to one finger…. yeah that dance}.
• The Gift wrap cutter was awesome and cut well as long as you had the wrapping paper completely on a flat surface, if you started to cut it off of a table it didn’t really work to well.. but other than that I was happy!
Now one other thing about the Holiday season, I’m sure you’ve read in a million and one place not to “splurge to much” and not to “fall off the band wagon..”
My turn to share my opinion! It depends on what this “bandwagon” is to you.. for me.. a splurge is now eating sweet potatoes over twice in one month, or over doing it with the almond bread or to many chocolate covered almonds or *gasp* going to town on some cheese. If that’s what you’re worried about, live a little it’s ok, you might not feel to hot but it’s the Holidays enjoy yourself.. if it makes you feel better do a few extra pushups the next day.
IF your splurge is a cupcake, or a heaping portion of some random pasta / grain dish… Do Not Do It… Don’t even stop right now don’t even think of it.. It’s not worth it.. the tummy ache you will feel the next day will potentially put you off of eating for days.. and not eating for days at a time during this time of year is like not eating Turkey at Thanksgiving.
So just learn to recognize what you think of as a splurge now, you’d be surprised how much it’s actually changed since you turned paleo…
{And take a moment to be wicked proud of yourself, you’re not only changing what you eat but how you think of food, you’re making better choices and therefore your “splurges” have changed to better for you super yummy food! I’d high-five you but you’re way to far away! }
Whoa I missed this post AND the layout update!
btw it’s prima donna hehe
Uhhh present wrapping… Fortunately I don’t have many to wrap!
