Heyy guys! First off I am beyond sorry for the site being on and off for the last few days. It should *crosses fingers* be back in action and ok now!
So I did go to Trader Joe’s yesterday! I love that place. Did you know they have grass fed beef for $5.99/ lb? Not to shabby.
I ended up getting : 2 lbs of almonds, 2 containers of virgin coconut oil, and 2 containers of almond butter for $30.00 Which is awesome because at my grocery store that would have cost me around $50.00 {or more}. Hence my happy dance on leaving the store yesterday {and there was literally a bit of dancing around at the thought of almond butter I cannot lie}
I know most of you are like why not make your almond butter! Well yes I do sometimes, but for me… A jar the size of what I purchased is going to cost me at least $7.00 in almonds, my time, and cleaning a blender. At Trader Joe’s that jar is $4.99. Price wise I’m not saving any money to make my own, I am saving time and clean up though, which is in and itself worth a lot, especially for my busy busy parents. So when making the choice between buying or making almond butter {or any nut butter for that matter} check how much your paying for almonds to make that amount of almond butter {It doesn’t directly translate… 1/2 a lb of almonds won’t give you that much almond butter!}. Then factor in your time, how much your eating, when are you eating it {if you’re eating it at the office for instance it might be easier to just leave a jar there instead of bringing in every time you want some a fresh batch}. All of that should weigh in on your choice to make your own or buy it! For me as long as I’m buying the Trader Joe’s version I’m saving money and my neighbors don’t hate me for using my blender for long periods of time!
Anyhoo.. Should have recipes headed your way this week!
And did you see us on The Foodee Project? The Chili Recipe is the meal of the day 😀 How exciting is that? {yes I literally did another happy dance lmao}
