And oh, what a sexy statement they are…and by sexy I mean I wish the hot pink ones weren’t a really obnoxious price because I’d totally buy them.
The only thing they have going for them at the moment is that they don’t make my skinny jeans fit {or look} weirdly…and oh yea, they make my shin splints all better. Now some of you may be asking yourself — Why is Liz doing a post about her shin splints? Not that we don’t care that she’s all bad-ass with her compression sleeves…but really what does this have to do with saving money on my groceries?
Ahhh a wise question as always my friends! Because I want to talk to you briefly about not being silly when it comes to your body. Right now you’re making {or thinking about making} the decision to feed it some stellar food, in fact — you’re providing it with the best nutrition that we know about to date. Which means yes your body heals a bit quicker than before, you look amazing and you feel amazing.
And now because you eat and look like a bad-ass you’ve probably started working out like one too. But what you can’t do is stop listening to the pains your body now is having from the working out like a bad-ass part, it’s normal to want to ignore those pains and keep going to reach that ultra-epic-awesome status you’re going to rock very shortly.
For me? I started the insanity workouts again, plus 3x a week lifting and I’ve been cooking a ton recently {reason why? Super big surprise! You’ll know soon I pinky swear promise 🙂 }, add in some super flat feet and you’ve got a recipe for my shins and right ankle/foot to be completely “oh-no-she-isn’t” And I’ve been all “Oh Yes I am”. Which has lead to my right leg to act like I beat it with a baseball bat continually in some spots.
How do I cure this itty bitty annoying problem? I get out my handy-dandy-not hot pink compression sleeves- and I take a day or two off to heal. Is it making me a little peeved I’m not working out? Yes you bet your socks I am. I’m beyond peeved… I was seeing super great results and had to take today off and only made it through half a workout yesterday. But I’ll be able to workout twice as well tomorrow and I won’t push myself to an injury that could lead me to not workout for weeks, even months.
What does this mean for you? Don’t you dare not listen to your body because you’re being stubborn and want to see results ASAP. If it hurts, take the time off you need and see a doctor if you need to. If you have problems, wear compression sleeves when and wear possible and if the right solution. Heck I’ve been wearing mine most of the day and it’s made my leg feel like a champ! Do whatever it is you need to do to make yourself feel better and all nice and healed.
Why am I stressing this? Because if you cause yourself a major arm, leg, back or whatever injury because you didn’t listen to your aches and pains earlier you might have to miss more than a few workout. You might be forced to take time off of work to heal, see a million different doctors, etc, etc. When it all could have been prevented by taking a day or two off!
So for the love of my sunday-morning-coffee {and you all know I Love my coffee}. LISTEN TO YOUR BODY!
Happy Wednesday!
