Sorry — I don’t have a link for some stellar Freebie … but that would be a-mazing I know!
What I actually wanted to talk to you about today was taking advantage of free educational classes and resources! I know most of us don’t have the financial resources to take paid-for classes so we’ve got to find other resources and methods on getting the education/help/information that we want!
Here’s how this story started: Mr. POAB and I are always {and I mean ALWAYS} looking for new ways to up our game with our Wedding Photography business — And my favorite photographer of all time Jasmine Star is offering a free 2 day online-course on the art of second shooters {which is how we shoot, me being the main shooter and Mr. POAB being my ever needed and lovely second shooter — seriously I have no idea how I’d survive a wedding without him!}. But the problem is I had two meetings tonight and had to miss the class. What did we do? Stayed up late and watched the re-broadcast!
Which has now opened up a really great dialogue on how we can improve our business, without spending any money.
So, we took an amazing class for free and have new ways of upping our game for free. Win-Win! Which is then what ended up inspiring the idea for this post!
Now in the Paleo world there are a ton of free resources, because well we’re just that awesome of a community! Right now I believe they’ve got some free cooking video demos going on {or it might be over — not sure!}. And we’re such cool kids that there’s literally always an awesome, free event going on! There are even some amazing bloggers that have free podcasts, free super in-depth articles that help explain the science behind paleo, cooking demos on their website, online forums, etc, etc.
Then there’s YouTube! Where you can see some REALLY cool lectures for free! Like the CrossFit YouTube Page has a Gary Taubes lecture based on his book “Why We Get Fat” {it’s in two parts I believe}, which I totally geeked out and watched twice and will quote to random people who will listen {literally, I’ve done that before}.
So here’s my question to you — are you taking advantage of all these amazing resources that are out there? I know buying books, and paying for certain things is awesome — but you don’t have to do that {I know, I have a book coming out and I’m telling you that if you can’t afford it, I don’t want you to break your bank to buy it! Seriously, I’d rather you pay your gas bill or buy groceries! But totally still come say hi to me if I do a book signing in your area OK? Cause that would rock!}!
All you need to do is find out what some of your favorite paleo bloggers are doing as far as free resources and take advantage of them until you have the funds to go to the paid-for-version of said resources!
And don’t limit this to paleo! I’ve found free resources for some of my favorite topics and it’s allowed me to do what I want without having to break my bank!
{OK and yes, I totally will watch random YouTube videos on how to do different hair styles, the best way to do a smokey eye and then cooking videos — in the same day, cause I’m totally cool like that 😉 }
Why did I write this post? Because I think a lot of people are shy about free resource and taking advantage of them! Please {for the love of my coffee} don’t be shy! And if you need help on finding a great resource, just email me or leave a comment here — I’m totally willing to help you, even if it’s not about paleo!
Moral of my story? Take advantage of awesome freebie resources when you can, even if you don’t think you’ll have anything to learn — you’ll be surprised by how much watching someone be passionate about a specific topic can help to fuel your own passion. It’s so easy for us budgeters to get caught up in how much money we can spend and what we can and cannot do because of that, that we sometimes loose sight of the fun, inspiring things {which is totally normal} — and these said free classes / resources can sometimes just help you get your groove back so to speak!
So keep on learning my friends!
Happy Wednesday!
I just stumbled upon your blog (I love random blog finds, by the way!) and really love it. I appreciate your laid back approach to menu planning .. seems less intimidating than meal plans that have every single meal planned out! And I’m glad I read THIS post because I was mighty confused by all these Wedddings you were going to! when I first came to your site, I just glanced through numerous meal plans … kept seeing Wedding on there and wondered why you were getting married over and over again! 🙂
Anyway…thanks for a real world approach to paleo meals!
