This post is coming a wee bit late, but I’m going to write it none the less… Last Thursday myself and Paleo On A Budget had our Birthday! POAB was techincally around before that, but Mr. Not So Paleo bought me the domain as a b-day gift, so in my world we have the same birthday!
It’s pretty cool thinking that this went from being an idea to something that’s actually a fully functioning blog and facebook page. I’ve had way to much fun doing this and looking forward to the next year with everyone!
So I was thinking about birthday gifts and how everyone’s like “what do you want”…. I never know what to say {well getting my hair done is always number one on that list!}, but my parents came through once again and thought of the perfect gift for me, ever…. A mini-shopping spree at Trader Joes. Hello Epic-ness.
In the picture above you’ll see my scores for the day:
• 3 lbs of Grass Fed Beef
• 2 bags of Raw Almonds
• Dijon Mustard {first one I’ve found that’s actually paleo!}
• Smoked Salmon
• Apple Gate Farm Turkey
• Organic Ketchup {that’s for Mr. Not So Paleo}
• Coconut Oil {from Whole Foods}
• Ghee {From Whole Foods}.
So next time your birthday rolls around {or any holiday where gifts are given}, a great gift could be a grocery store gift card. Or even a mini-shopping spree like I got. It’s a win-win because you’re getting some serious noms and a gift and it’s going to go a bit farther than a new DVD or something along those lines.
Oh and if you have no idea what to do for a Birthday cake now that you’re paleo… you might want to consider Chocolate Covered Strawberries. I got a huge Edible Arrangements bouquet and let me tell you that was the best birthday “cake” ever. Last year my sister and I made them.. which was equally as good {and also hilarious because she’d never made them before!}
So just because you’ve turned paleo doesn’t mean you have to give up certain aspects of your birthday party ever!
Ok my little ramble is over 🙂 Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes!!!!
Man a shopping spree is always a good call for a gift when you’re strapped for cash. Where in WF did you find the ghee?! I’ve never found it and I’m too lazy to make my own now!
I found it at the Whole Foods on the Medford / Somerville Line… It was one aisle over from the olive oil / coconut oil there…. and way up on a top shop, I had to ask someone where they kept the Ghee / Clarified Butter! {B/C TJ was all out of coconut oil 🙁 }
